This foundational program introduces students to the role of a pharmacy assistant in community settings. Students will learn about the history and structure of pharmacy in Canada, the roles of the pharmacy team, and relevant legal and ethical standards. The program covers prescription components, drug classifications, dosage forms, medical terminology, billing procedures, inventory management, and communication in pharmacy practice. Emphasis is placed on safety, accuracy, cultural awareness, and patient confidentiality to prepare students for entry-level support roles.
Start Dates:
Classes begin on the first and third Wednesday of every month
· Registration closes on Sunday at 6 p.m. for start dates.
· The program link is sent to students on Tuesdays by 6 p.m.(day before the start date).
· Students start their program on Wednesday.
Duration: 8 weeks
Format: This course is 100% online and asynchronous. There are no Zoom classes or in-person classes. Students just need to complete the eight assignments. The instructor will mark one assignment per week. Students cannot finish earlier than their end date.
